It began in early June – I took part in the Faith For The Climate petition to government to ‘swap empty words for real action’.
A few weeks later on Shabbat 22 June, Rabbi Jonathan and I walked over 2 hours to central London to represent EcoJudaism at the landmark Restore Nature Protest with over 80,000+ UK citizens.

In September we launched our River Restoration campaign with a Wild Swimming for Women event in Kenwood Ladies Ponds.
This was followed by EcoJudaism’s first Reverse Tashlich event, removing 16 bags of rubbish from the Mutton Brook Hendon, and getting us into the news.

In November EcoJudaism made history in by running the UK Jewish Community’s first Eco Vigil over COP29 attended by MPs, Rabbis, community leaders and students.
Over EcoJudaism’s 2 weeks of intensive Jewish Eco Action during COP29, including EcoShabbat, we engaged hundreds of UK Jews.

Not forgetting our rivers, EcoJudaism became an official supporter of the March for Clean Water. On Sunday 4th of November, we joined thousands of other protesters urging our government an end to the pollution of Britain’s waterways. Many were moved to see our message “G-d’s spirit hovers over the water” – Genesis (1:2)
During December we became official supporters of the ZeroHour campaign to ensure MPs turn up and vote for the Climate & Nature Bill on January 24. The Climate and Nature Bill is the only proposed legislation before the UK Parliament that ensures a comprehensive and joined-up approach to the climate emergency – it must pass!

This month we’ve also endorsed the Interational Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and we’ll be running a social media campaign over Chanukah for synagogues and individuals to endorse the treaty.
We were also at Limmud Festival 2024, providing 7 varied and creative sessions on Judaism and the environment for adults and kids.
